I'm FINALLY done my Christmas shopping! (Well, yesterday). This was yesterday's outfit. I found the dress at Value Village for $4. To my surprise, it's from Swak Designs and it's this dress. I was stoked to find it - and it's so pretty! I did not feel like wearing pants yesterday despite the chilly weather, so dress it is!

I'm not even supposed to be blogging today, I'm supposed to be cooking for tonight... so I guess I will cut this short and have a happy holidays everyone.

PS: I will be doing a circle lens review sometime this week, on the request of some readers. Stay tuned for that.

Skirt and Top F21 | Tights eBay | Scarf Spring | Everything Else Thrifted

Here I present two outfits with one common item (okay, maybe two - can you guess what it is?) It is now I realised I love red and I own quite a bit of red stuff... oh well!

The red cardigan I bought from a thrifting trip moons ago, it reminded me of Christmas and the detailing pretty much sold me on the spot. I've worn it a few times but I've never had the opportunity to photograph it on the blog, so here it is.

Dress Dorothy Perkins | Tights eBay | Belt ASOS | Everything Else Thrifted

The dress, on the other hand, is from Dorothy Perkins from a sale a few seasons ago - what I'd like to call a "mullet dress". Obscenely short at the front, and long at the bottom. I did not get an opportunity to take a picture but I promise I did not flash anything, haha.

I went Christmas shopping today and I'm glad I'm almost done. This is probably the first time in forever that I actually am a bit late on my Christmas shopping. I can't believe Christmas is this weekend already (which means afterwards, school will be here soon...) - what are your guys' plans?!

Top, Shoes, Bag, and Cardigan Thrifted | Scarf, Ring, and Shorts Forever 21 | Tights Addition-Elle

The weather is nice despite there being snow on the ground. Enough for me to take pictures outside sans jacket, at least! I know a lot of people hate shorts with tights but I love them - it feels like wearing a skirt, and I don't feel self-conscious sometimes when the wind blows your skirt up. Paired with these really super-opaque and thick Addition-Elle tights, it's perfect!

Now that I'm finally done school, I can post outfits. Today I wore this out to go Christmas shopping (t'was a bust) and go on a date with my boyfriend because we haven't been spending time with each other since he works a lot and it was exam season - so it was nice to go out without exam anxiety looming over our heads. This outfit is fairly simple... no bells and whistles. Also, indoor shooting sucks (I forgot to use my other lens) so this is the only picture I have today.

Jumper Gap | Peter Pan Collar Top Dorothy Perkins | Skirt Forever 21 | Tights Addition-Elle | Shoes and Belt Thrifted

I think I'm getting the winter blues - or just vacation blues in general. What to do when I'm not studying? I'm extremely bored at home - playing the Sims 3 just doesn't cut it. I also haven't found a good television show to watch either. Any suggestions?

209. (Outfits I've never published... until now.)

Sometimes, I'm too lazy to post an outfit post. Sometimes, I feel like maybe the outfit doesn't warrant it's own entry? Either way, just as the title says... it's outfits I've never posted until now. Think of it as a compilation of blooper shots. Yeah, that's what it is. This ranged throughout the year.

I'm laughing at some of them right now. I don't mind sharing the humour. :p
Until next time!

Top and Socks Joe Fresh | Shorts and Belt ASOS | Tights Sears | Cardigan and Shoes Thrifted

Hi everyone, here's a new update for today. Did some holiday shopping and some errands. (Oh, and I'm playing the Sims 3 Pets currently. Love it.) Here's my outfit I wore today - super comfortable.

So, I'm still getting used to the contact lenses! It's just so weird seeing me without my glasses. I know I keep talking about glasses and my face, but glasses are like... my identity - my second skin! It's so weird. It's like my safety blanket, you know?

For those who are looking for over-the-knee socks and are Canadian (or live in NYC), look no further! Joe Fresh has $5 socks! Such a good deal. I love Joe Fresh... seriously, even though it's like from a grocery store (though now they're stepping it up and having stand alone stores) they have awesome makeup and clothing for very affordable prices - and it's trendy. Gotta love it.

Until next time.

I really think that I gravitated to what people call 'boring' but I like to call it 'simple'. I remember when I first started this blog, I liked to be obnoxious (though I try to tone it down) and be a bit loud. These days, I take solace in comfort over looking too bizarre... though sometimes I like to dress weirdly! This is exactly what I was trying to convey in today's outfit: not too loud and comfortable.

Sweater and Shoes Thrifted | Scarf and Skirt F21 | Socks and Tights Dorothy Perkins

Today my little brother took my outfits - thanks Matthew! I actually think he does a better job at it than my boyfriend (ha ha, just kidding, Gab) ... one of the reasons why I haven't been able to update as much as I like is because of my lack of photographer and my tripod sucks. Now that I know my brother can take decent pictures, expect more updates! Mwahaha.

By the way, notice anything different?! No spectacles! Nope. Instead I am trying out contact lenses. I had a few questions come up on where I bought my contact lenses, and I bought them from Honey Color. They're Geo Nudy circle lenses - incredibly comfortable and cute!

205. (GlassesUSA Eyewear)

B&K Prescription Eyeglasses From $59

If you all know me already, you know that I love glasses. (I own 13 pairs... yes, I am addicted!) Imagine my surprise when I found another eye glasses online retailer that sells cute glasses on a budget! I have an insanely high prescription and it costs me hundreds of dollars in a brick and mortar optical at the mall to get just one pair of glasses - and they're not even that cute.

iSee Full Framed Prescription Glasses From $90

GlassesUSA has a huge selection of eyeglasses that are very affordable, as I said! I pay literally $500 for ONE pair of glasses at the optical. It all adds up when you have astigmatism, or a high prescription, or if you need bifocals or even multifocal glasses.

Personally, I love loud, obnoxious glasses that make you stand out. I'm a pretty shy person outside of the internet, but when you get to know me I am quite loud. I really like nerdy, round glasses, too! GlassesUSA has 'nerdy' glasses and work-appropriate glasses as well for the more conservative tastes. The glasses on this post are my favourites - two of them are loud and bizarre, and one is enough to be "colourful" but still be work appropriate!
Estelle Brown Full Frames Prescription Eye wear From $48 also provided you all with a 10% discount code: BLOG10 which can be used anytime.
Since today is Cyber Monday, they have a 30% off discount PLUS free shipping. The code is: CYBER2011

Get shopping!

This is a sponsored post. However, 100% of the statements provided are my honest opinion.

Dress Dorothy Perkins | Tights Addition-Elle | Snood Forever 21 | Shoes and Cardigan Thrifted

Finally, an update!
The weather is actually quite nice enough for me not to go with a woolly coat, so I took the opportunity to snap some pictures outside because I hate taking pictures in my house. I was wearing a cozy jacket/chunkier cardigan on top but I decided to forgo without it for this picture.

Also, another thing I just wanna get off my chest: Don't you hate it when you wear white/a light colour and no matter how much you try, you STILL get something on your clothes? Grrr! So annoying. That's what happened to me like 4 hours after I took these photos. I'm not that much of a slob, I swear. Also... I just noticed that I have a red speck on my arm. I think it's a piece of fuzz from one of my red cardigans that decided to attach itself onto my polkadots.

Anyways, this is all for today and I'll try my best to update! I really have no excuse when I'm not swamped with homework and papers these days. (Ok I lied, I have a paper due in 4 weeks but I'm procrastinating right now. Big time.)

Leopard Top, Wine Coloured Cardigan Thrifted | Bag Aldo | Shoes Dr. Martens, thrifted for $12 | Jacket ASOS | Leggings Target | Scarf Spring Shoes | Lipstick MAC Red

Hello everyone. Happy Friday! I have a quick outfit to share with you all. What I wore to go to school and then have Korean food.

If you haven't tried Korean food yet, you must! So good. Not everything is spicy either (a common misconception about Korean food). I'm not big on the whole Korean BBQ thing but I do like stews. Unfortunately the rice cake soup I had did not photograph well, but at least I have a picture of the yummy vegetable side dishes.

Until next time.

200 entries! Wow. Time flies doesn't it. Also, it's my birthday today! To be honest I didn't do much today. I was at school the whole day and I am just so tired. I'll be going out with my family this weekend. I guess my time at school reflects my outfit. I guess it's "kind of boring" but this is what I normally wear to school ... some variation of it. It's still not cold enough for me to pull out my faux-fur coat yet. (Which is surprising given my city's reputation for being a deep-freeze.)

Jacket, Shorts and Belt ASOS | Scarf Spring | Tights One Stop Plus | Everything else Thrifted

A word about my tights from One Stop Plus. I LOVE them. They're thick, warm, and perfect for the colder seasons. However, they are WAY too small. I usually order a 2X in my tights or 3X but even a 3X was WAY too small. Like... it barely fit my ass. Which is weird, but if you read the reviews it says it runs small. I guess I should read the reviews more often. Lesson learned. So I suggest sizing up... like two sizes of what you normally wear because it's ridiculous. I believe they also shrink in the wash, but I'm not quite sure.

I also want to gush about this sweater. Can you believe I got it for $2.99 at the thrift store?! It looks a lot like ASOS Curve's Textured Jumper but in red. Seriously. People are SO intimidated by thrifting but it's a lot of fun and you can find goodies. I promised to make a thrifting post, would you all still be interested in it?

Until next time. Let me know what you think. :)

199. (Mellow Yellow)

Sweater and Chelsea Boots Thrifted | Skirt Dorothy Perkins | Tights Wal-Mart | Belt ASOS

Here's an outfit for today. It's chilly outside but not too chilly for me to layer myself in many layers of clothing. I bought another chunky knit sweater from the thrift shop ($5)! Can you tell that I'm obsessed with chunky knits? I've also been yearning for a yellow midi skirt since spring, and when Dorothy Perkins had this lovely skirt on sale I had to grab it quickly. One of my criticisms is that the skirt is a bit on the thin side as you can see, but it is still comfortable because of the elastic waist.

Did you also notice I cut my bangs to become blunt again? I feel like a quitter for doing so. I was growing out my bangs but I got so sick of it being in my face constantly that I went to the hairdresser across the street and chopped it off. I clearly have no self control in this regard.

I didn't dress up for Hallowe'en because I don't really celebrate it to be honest. I only like it for the candy. I guess if I had to go on a stretch I am a grandma. LOL.

Anyways, until next time everyone.

197. (Do the remix!)

Dress H&M | Belt ASOS | Scarf Forever 21 | Cardigan Thrifted | Tights Simons | Boots Thrifted Dr. Martens

Only one picture of this outfit. Why? Because my camera is sucking and I think it's time for me to invest in a new lens.

I can't believe I got these babies for $7.00 ... that's right, $7.00 ... best part about buying used Dr. Martens is that I don't have to wear them in so it's SUPER comfortable!) Oh, sorry about the fur. My pug sheds A LOT.

Beautiful detailing on the tights.

I'm trying really hard to remix my items as you can see. I mean, isn't it obvious that my blog centres around remixing? Personally I'd rather wear a bunch of items over and over again than buy one dress or one garment and NEVER wear it again. My mission as a blogger was never to flaunt my new items each time I do a blog post, and it never will be my mission. This might be how other people run their blogs, but it's not how I run mine. I blog for myself, to keep progress of my personal style and personal growth as an individual and to meet like-minded people in the world. Besides, I'm one of those people who really LOVES and wears the hell out of the garment until I get sick of it.

Here's reasons why I remix:

1. It's more sustainable, less wasteful.
2. Forces you to think about your outfits.
3. I'm not rich. (I never intended this in the first place. I'm not trying to be a fashion blogger who flaunts a bunch of designer brands and wears Jeffrey Campbell Litas. That may be other bloggers prerogatives, but not mine!)
4. I like wearing the hell out of my stuff.

There's lots of great remix blogs out there. My favourite is Elaine is a great blogger and is PRO at making new looks with what little clothes she has. She is my inspiration, do check out her blog if you haven't yet!

Do you remix? Do you prefer blogs that integrate remixing garments and outfits? What are your opinions on this issue? I'd love to know what you think!

In addition to remixing, I just like being cheap. I think I will make a post on thrifting and my overall frugality another time. Even though I have a lot of clothes, I don't pay a lot for garments. If I had a lot spare cash, I would definitely invest in brand new clothing... but I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon - that's the life of a student, huh? :P

Anyways, until next time!

Sunday, October 16, 2011

My inspiration for this outfit was to keep it simple. Oh, you're all probably sick of the bag I carry around... I can't help it. It's probably one of the best thrift finds EVER, fyi. (Besides the chunky knit sweater I have on in this outfit.) I believe I was successful. I wore this to go to the mall and find my boyfriend shoes... and reunite with a classmate whom I have not seen in years.

Everything is thrifted except the skirt which is from Forever 21+.

I've not much to say else... I wouldn't want to bore you all that I'm drowning in school work. Yeah.

Anyways, until next time everyone.

Shorts City Chic | Belt ASOS | Everything Else Thrifted

Here's a quick outfit post for today. I got new glasses! (Okay, I have like 10+ pairs. I'm addicted.) Today was date day for boyfriend and me... I'm still not feeling 100%, but truth be told, Gab and I don't see each other much these days. We both work and go to school and we come home at 10 pm... leave the house at 8 am... we need date time!

The weather isn't too hot or too cold so this is my outfit. We went out for a movie (go see 50/50! So good.) and now I'm going to relax!

Until next time.
