280: INGRI:DAHL 3D Eyeglasses Review

Hi everyone! Kicking off December's first entry by posting a review for INGRI:DAHL for you guys today. Just to clarify before I begin my review, I never review things or publish things on this blog without having trying the product first and loving them. I received these glasses back in July but life got in the way and I wasn't able to adequately review them due to the nature of the product. But now that it's winter break, here it is!

INGRI:DAHL is a company specializing in 3D glasses. The same type of 3D glasses you may use to watch a 3D television at home or the ones you use to watch a 3D film at the cinema.

WhatIWore: Dec 2012

I received the Pink Panther Glasses, and I couldn't have been more thrilled when I opened the package. What I got was a cute pair of 3D glasses that sat very comfortably on my face. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of me wearing them because I do not often bring my camera to the theatre. But from testing it out at home I could stack my own glasses (the smaller frames I own) with these ones. However, for going to the cinema I opted to wear my contact lenses. They worked perfectly! I love these because people stared at them because it was unique-looking from the black 3D glasses everyone else had, and they were so fashionable too. Because I didn't take pictures, I only made a polyvore on what I did wear that day.

Couldn't be happier with these glasses. Hopefully now that I have more time, I will be able to go to the theatre more often! These glasses would make a great stocking stuffer for any fashionista who wants to look chic at the movie theatre.

Today is my fiance and my brothers birthdays, but we went out yesterday for dinner to celebrate and this is what I wore. I've been curling my hair lately, it's a nice change than the flat hair that I usually have. :p

I've got nothing to add unfortunately. It's been quiet around these parts. It's nearly the end of the term and as usual I'm swamped with homework and assignments. Hopefully December will fare better with blog posts because I won't be so busy and sleep deprived!

Until next time,

Another year, another birthday. I find every year my birthday is more underwhelming than the last. It's not because I'm aging and I'm becoming one of those people who fight against aging, it's just it's become less of a big deal. Past birthdays consisted of going out to restaurants with many of my friends or having sleepovers at my house, or even having huge family gatherings at my home. Today I went out for pho with Gabriel and then I went shopping for a bit, and for once I actually got stuff. Lately when I go shopping in person it's just been blah. I've just been so uninspired lately.

This outfit is reminiscent of many of the outfits I've been wearing the past month or so since school started. It seems I gravitate towards tights, cardigans, and a button up top. I've been obsessed with this necklace I bought from Gordman's in the states. I've been whining about short hair on my past blog entry, but if there's one nifty thing about having short hair and it's that I can wear a hat without tucking so much hair away underneath!

In concluding this entry I will now go watch Game of Thrones (I started last week!) and work on my homework and attempt at completing NaNoWriMo. Have any of you been doing National Novel Writing Month? I always try to complete the full 50,000 words but I never succeed. This time I'm going to try - I've been fantasizing about this plot for MONTHS and now I actually need to have it typed down and completed!

Until next time,

Gazel ♥

277. (On my hair...)

Two months in and I'm still not used to my hair. I thought maybe I'd grow to like it because after all, it'd be a nice change. While I did warm up to it in the first few weeks it's novelty has worn off. I often look in the mirror and feel much regret because my long hair and my blunt fringe was what made me and helped me form my own self-identity. It's silly, especially to admit on my blog (but I will anyways) but I feel less feminine, or I guess less like myself. If I were to label myself or identify myself, I would identify as a "femme" or very feminine because of my love with my dresses and skirts. But right now I feel like the antithesis of that just because I'm missing 12 inches of my hair. I feel androgynous lately, wearing pants and avoiding skirts because when I look in the mirror I just don't feel like myself. Maybe this is why I don't even bother with outfit posts sometimes.

Romper ASOS | Cardigan Thrifted (similar) | Bag Cambridge Satchel Company (get it here!) | Shoes Steve Madden

It's not to say others who have short hair should feel less feminine, that's not what I meant. Other women can rock short hair and still look as femme as can be, but for myself it's just not me. Short hair Gazel is not who I feel I am, you know? Funny how something like hair can make me have an identity crisis.

I'm trying to make the most of this and shake myself out of this funk. My hair is slowly growing back thanks to hair treatments and vitamin supplements. But until then, I'll just have to deal with it.

Until next time,
 Gazel ♥

Cardigan Thrifted (similar) | Top Torrid | Shorts ASOS (similar) | Tights Forever 21+ (get it here) | Shoes Thrifted (similar) | Bag Vintage Coach (similar) | Scarf Joe Fresh (similar)

The weather was warm enough today not to wear a jacket, plus I had no homework. I thought it'd be good to seize the opportunity to go out, go thrifting, and have some pho. When I go shopping, I just buy what I like, which is what I did at the thrift store (bought some books, a red top, and a pair of shoes!), and I can't wait to show it here! I'm not very good at following trends or fashion runway stuff, but I know that the cardigan colour I am wearing ... burgundy? It's in, right?! Haha.

After an afternoon of shopping I visited my dad who lives on the other side of the city. Here's some pictures of my oldest dog, Kobi - he lives with my dad. He's going to be 11 in March. Time flies... I remember when he was just a wee puppy!

Anyways, until next time.

My, where has the time gone! Mid-October is already here - or at least almost. Where I am, the leaves have fallen and the weather has definitely become a lot nippier. It has actually snowed here the past week or so, and while I do love the autumn and the layering I am SO not ready for winter yet. Ice, snow, or sleet? No thank you.

Top Thrifted | Jeans ASOS (get it here) | Bag Vintage Coach (similar) | Cardigan Thrifted (similar) | Shoes Thrifted (similar)

It's this period where my body is having a hard time adjusting to the weather change so I opted for pants instead of tights and a skirt. Pants are one of my worst enemies because my mid-section is a bit bigger but my legs are smaller in comparison so everything is BAGGY. I am also too tall for petite length, but too short for regular. Tailoring clothing is so expensive, but luckily I have my mom to do it for me. These black jeans I have had from ASOS for quite a while, but because of the fit I could not wear it. I actually have to get them tailored again because they stretched while wearing and the legs are still too baggy for me - doesn't fit like a skinny jean at all. I've tried every skinny jean I can get affordably on the market right now, but it's always this same annoying dilemma.  Do you have the same problem? Which brand of skinny jeans do you recommend?

Hopefully I can post more outfits. I wish I could catch up on more blogs and comment, but I have never anticipated that I would be this busy. :( I love blogging and commenting + looking at other looks, it's just sad I can't do it as much as I'd like to.

Until next time,

Hey hey, like I always say: long time no post! The past few weeks have been very stressful with work and school work piling on. I nearly have 12 hour work and school days combined every weekday so by the time I get home I'm tired and am in no mood to take outfit pictures, haha! Today was nice though, I didn't do much but nap and then go out for a bit. :)

As for the rest of this fine Saturday evening, I'm going to curl up in bed and do some reading, and then maybe play the Sims 3 (I am loving the new expansion pack!) or play some Playstation 3 with my fiance. I think it's now I realise weekends are so important, because I am deprived of "fun time" at home from being at school way too much. Hopefully, I can post more outfit posts ... but we'll see! I'm not giving up on this blog but I can't post as often as I would ideally like.

 Until next time,

Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of blog posts, but I did see this coming. School just started a few days ago and already my head is spinning from the amount of readings and work I'm about to do. Technically this year would be my last year of undergrad but I opted to stay another additional year to finish my honours thesis - I thought that the workload would lessen because of the extra year I would be staying but I guess not! Haha.

Top Vintage (similar) | Cardigan Thrifted (similar) | Skirt ASOS (get it here) | Belt ASOS | Shoes Dorothy Perkins

I finally made time to take a picture of my most recent outfit. Let me say, when I saw this top at the thrift shop I gasped - it was cute, had a vintage collar, AND it was in my size! I snatched it right away before anyone else could. I also got this cardigan from the same thrift shop too, score!

I'm still not used to my hair being this short. It's never been this short before. Sometimes I wake up and then I wonder, "Where'd my hair go? - Oh right, I cut it!" Change is good, I guess... it's not like I really cut my hair for aesthetic reasons (purely) but I cut it because my hair was just dead from the chemical processing ... it NEEDED to go. But sometimes I longingly look at pictures saved on my camera or phone and there's me with long hair. Oh well... hair is hair and it grows back eventually. I've been taking vitamins to make it grow back faster and using the New Shampoo bar from Lush - hopefully it works. :P

So that's it everyone. Nothing really new besides I'm busy. I also owe you guys product reviews but I've had no time to do anything else. One of these days, promise.

Top Dorothy Perkins (similar) | Skirt Dorothy Perkins, dyed yellow (similar) | Belt Dorothy Perkins (similar) | Cardigan Thrifted, Rickis (similar) | Bag Vintage Coach (similar) | Shoes Steve Madden

So, I wore this outfit yesterday to go thrifting and to pick up a jacket I left at the dry cleaners for almost a YEAR. Yes, I know - how careless was I to leave a jacket at the dry cleaners for a year?! I really have no excuse except I forgot and that really, I was lazy even when I happened to remember. Thrifting was kind of crazy too, actually - since there was a football game at our stadium the parking spots were packed with crazed fans... including our favourite thrift stores. Regardless, I made it out in one piece and I scored an awesome skirt and a jar I can use to put my spices in. Score!

Gab, my fiance, also surprised me with a brand new set of Prismacolor pencils after I had been looking for some good-quality pencil crayons for drawing. I recently got back into drawing and DIY after a long hiatus, I need lots of practice. Speaking of which, with this skirt from Dorothy Perkins I managed to dye it yellow. It wasn't the ochre I wanted originally (for the autumn season) so I think I'll give it another go to make it darker. Hey, practice makes perfect!

Until next time,

Top and Jean Jacket Old Navy (jean jacket similar) | Skirt Dorothy Perkins (similar) | Belt Thrifted | Bag Vintage, Dooney and Bourke | Boater Shoes Kohl's (similar)

To explain my lack of posts this week, all I can say is that I was sick fighting off a nasty cold I got after I went to the beach two weeks ago. This is the outfit I wore to celebrate finally being cold-free! It feels nice to breathe properly and not be hacking and coughing, taking medication constantly and blowing your nose all the time! Yes, fresh air! :)

I shopped in my closet a bit to find these goods. This skirt I was going to sell because I hadn't worn it in  months, but after re-evaluating it, I kept it. My yellow top I barely wear because I don't have many things that go with yellow that are bottoms. I also hadn't worn this denim jacket since I bought it. Although it hasn't been pictured in a while, these flats are becoming a favourite of mine because they go with a lot of things and are so comfortable! I wish I could love heels as much as the next fashionista (which I'm not ha ha) but for my feet, I need comfort above all. :P

One more thing before I end this blog post... but don'tcha hate it when your hair dye doesn't stay?! So annoyed looking at my pictures and seeing that the stubborn red dye hasn't gone, despite trying to dye my hair black! I've read the instructions and followed it to a T, but I guess I'm not experienced in dyeing my hair... and I'm in no position to dye my hair again after this! I've processed my hair so much from dyeing it red in the Spring (twice actually, once by box dye which failed, then salon), then rebonding it, then sloppily dyeing it black (and failing) again! Blah! Anyways...

Until next time,

Top Winners (similar) | Skirt ASOS (get it here!) | Shoes Thrifted (similar

I think this is the first time this shirt I'm wearing has made it's debut on my blog. I find this kind of funny because it's my absolute favourite shirt ever. It's sheer, comfortable, and it goes with anything! When I don't know what to wear I just throw on this top and wear it with shorts, a skirt, or a pair of trousers and I'm good to go. I paired my favourite shirt with my favourite skirt ever (you might've heard me gush about it a few entries back) and I'm set for the day!

What is your go-to garment in your closet? Do you have a piece of clothing that you can throw on with anything? I'd love to hear what others have to say... because considering what I own in my wardrobe, I actually find it kind of funny I gravitate towards a sheer purple top because I actually quite dislike the colour purple and I'm not too keen on the sheer trend.

Until next time,

267. (Maurices Review)

So, this is a really long-overdue review on one of Maurice's clothing. Maurice's is an American clothing company that specializes in women's clothing and luckily they offer some plus size clothing too, up to a size 24 and 4X. They kindly sent me this dress to review, you may have seen it on my USA post a few entries back. However, the pictures weren't adequate enough for me to do a review, thus I am doing so now.

Dress Courtesy of Maurices | Sandals Dorothy Perkins (similar)

Onto the review!

Size: The dress fits true to size. I ordered the size 20 equivalent on the size chart and it fits like a dream. Not too tight or too loose. With the elastic waistband it can easily accommodate up to a size 24.

Quality: The fabric is really good quality. It is thick, and not flimsy at all. The fabric itself has stretch and it a jersey-like material, and on the inside there's a soft polyester lining.

Overall: It's very trendy and I'm glad I got to try the hi-low trend. I've gotten many compliments on this dress and it's so easy to wear, and so comfortable! The shipping was very fast and prompt as well.

Unfortunately, this dress is sold out. However, there are similar styles such as this dress and this dress. I would definitely look to Maurices for trendy plus size clothing. There's clothing appropriate for business casual work too, which is a plus for me as I get higher in my academic career I can't go dressing like I usually do.

Until next time,

As I was sitting here eating my century-egg congee, I was wondering if I will regret posting this outfit post. I mean... just looking at these pictures stir some not-so-pleasant feelings inside. For one, these pictures aren't the best (still waiting for my camera charger) and second, when I wore this outfit I had the most dreadful evening. I had a bad argument with Gab (my fiance!) over something trivial and stupid and to top it all off, it was pretty much the last day for the Winnipeg Fringe festival and we missed both of the shows I desperately wanted to see because they were sold out - despite being 2 hours early for each show. Bleh.

On another note, here's a brief 'review' on this ASOS dress. It is still available for sale here!

Dress ASOS (available here) | Belt Thrifted | Shoes JC Penney (similar)

ASOS Curve Summer Dress with Collar

Sizing: This dress I bought in a UK 24 or US 20. I usually buy my clothes on ASOS at a size UK 26 (US 22) if the material is cotton or not stretchy. I tried ordering a UK 26 because I was weary of the "mini skirt" style being too short (as ASOS dresses usually run short) and it was too long, and way too big! I was swimming in fabric and the bust was way too big, even belting it didn't do the trick. As usual in ASOS Curve the sizing was on the big size. Even at a UK 24 the bust is still kind of loose, but a belt will do the trick.

Quality: The quality is okay. The material is cotton and it is pretty 'light' in terms of going out on a hot day. It wrinkles, however, as you can see - even just freshly steaming or ironing this dress didn't sort out the wrinkly situation.

Similarities to Website: Colour is true to picture. It isn't red, but a coral-like colour. The skirt looks way too short on the model but at 5'5" it's a bit above my knee so I don't have to worry about accidentally flashing someone.

Final Verdict: Love this dress aside that it wrinkles so much. Size down from your usual size for this dress, like I said, it runs large!

There's lots of things I regret in life right now. Among them is the fact that I shouldn't have cut my bangs on impulse because I watched a Youtube video showing me how to cut them in an ~innovative~ way and inexpensive way. Well, that came to bite me in the ass: I had to go to the salon to fix it, and even then it's not that great because I screwed up royally. Also, since my hair is fried from all the processing I got it trimmed - trimming a good 1-2 inches in the process. When I saw my hair on the salon floor I weeped inside.
The other thing I strongly regret is that I lost my charger for my good camera and because of it I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail! So now you will have to deal with these out-of-focus pictures until I do get it back.

Top Thrifted  | Belt Thrifted (similar) | Skirt Modcloth (available here) | Bag Vintage Coach (similar) | Shoes Dorothy Perkins (sold out, similar here)

But hey, there's things that I am glad for - like the summer and being able to go to the Winnipeg Fringe Festival (By the way, I strongly recommend seeing Dungeons and Dragons Improv IV - hilarious stuff!) and being able to wear skirts without suffering in the heat. Or that I solved a DIY disaster by using hemming tape - case in point, this shirt in which I cut off the sleeves but zoned out and managed to REALLY mess it up.

Until next time!

So these outfits are just some things I've been wearing the past week or so. Clearly I have not gone out a lot this week. As usual, most of my time spent during this summer is reading, playing the Sims 3, and sleeping. For those wondering, I do not work right now because I am unable to find work that would hire me until September. I work during school months on a yearly contractual basis and since there's no school in the summer, I'm off. Trust me, I've tried looking for a place that would hire me until then but it's futile. I'm not lazy, I swear. (Well I guess I am, but that's a tale for another time).

Top Thrifted (similar) | Skirt ASOS (similar) | Belt Thrifted (similar) | Shoes JC Penney (similar)

This outfit was one I was hesitant to post on the blog but I will anyways. Why, you may ask? It looks like you can see my KNICKERS. (Okay, panties... but it's such a icky word I don't like it). It's not my knickers they're a white undershirt I wore underneath my denim button up - but since this ASOS skirt is totally NOT modest, they show every little thing. I actually quite adore the pink chiffon skirt, but I can't wear it as often because it's so transparent even with it's pathetic little slip underneath. That and I don't know what else to wear with it. Usually I just sell or donate stuff I don't wear anymore but I can't bear to get rid of this one - not yet anyways.

Now that I have your attention, I'd like to say two things that I don't like right now:

1. My hair: IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. As you can see here I'm "growing out" my bangs but actually it's a product of laziness that I must fix immediately. My forehead is too big and having bangs constantly in your face is annoying. I like 'em blunt for some peace of mind. Also, since I rebonded my hair IT IS AWKWARDLY STRAIGHT and the only hair style that is suitable for rebonded hair... at least mine... is to have bangs.
2. Batman: The Rise of the Dark Knight: I was so fortunate to see this movie (okay I was forced but I am appreciative of my privilege to see flicks on a weekly basis, thanks Gab! xo) and I have never seen a Batman movie before. Boy, was this the WRONG movie to be my gateway into the Batman series. I never really say a movie sucks but this movie sucked. (Contradiction!) I have a bad attention span and for what seemed like hours it was just talking but all I heard was, "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH"... SO BORING.

What are some things that you don't like right now or that's bothering you? I know I'm not the only one who likes to whine and complain, haha!

Until next time,

262. (Two outfits + Sharing)

Top Torrid | Skirt and Belt ASOS (get it here) | Shoes Thrifted (similar)

Howdy, everyone!
I wore this outfit to do some errands. This ASOS Skater Skirt with a Belt is the SKIRT OF MY DREAMS. Yes, that's quite a title to live up to but I swear, it's an amazing skirt! I've been looking for a simple high-waisted structured black skater skirt for months and when I first saw it for sale online I snatched it up as fast as I could before it might sell out! This skirt is amazing because it's very well-made, the fabric feels amazing, and the quality is great overall. Besides, you can dress it up or down - and perfect for work, too.

Top Thrifted (similar) | Jacket ASOS (similar) | Skirt Forever 21(similar) | Shoes Sears (similar) | Bag Vintage, Dooney and Bourke | Necklace Dorothy Perkins (get it here)

I also wore this outfit the other day and didn't post it on the blog because I forgot to upload it... it was forever lost in the depths of my hard drive. Until now -  so here it is.

Yes I have many split ends. Gonna fix that sometime...

Anyways, I was thinking lately - the thing with blogging is that even though we can type all we want about our lives, our true selves are never really accurately portrayed through words. Part of that is, as bloggers, we control what part of ourselves we show on the internet and the rest is hidden. I never intended this blog to be a getting-to-know-you penpal kind of schtick, but plans change I suppose.

The truth is, I'm not as confident as I seem on the camera - at least with my body. Sometimes I do struggle with my body image. I'm not proud of myself, but I'm not ashamed either. It's this limbo where sometimes I feel insecure, but sometimes I am happy and content. Sometimes, I tumble back into disordered eating habits too. It is what it is. It's something I still struggle with, but something I am working on.

However, I am very confident about myself to the point of arrogance when it comes to my beliefs, morals, and academic knowledge. As such, when someone challenges my beliefs or otherwise 'moral' beliefs - such as, for instance, cowardice - it really grinds my gears to the point it pisses me off, especially when someone is trying to insult you.
I admit it - I'm what many (excuse my political incorrectness) a bitch because I'm not a pushover and I know what I want in life. When I see people insulting me or bossing me around I put my foot down and defend myself. In fact, I'm apparently so shy and demure in real life that when I did some activism on campus they couldn't believe that this shy girl was someone who was as frightening as a tiger! (A nickname my mom gives me because I'm really aggressive, LOL!)

Anyways, that's enough about me. How about you guys, do you portray yourself differently online than when you do in your offline life? Like what? As I said - online, I'm pretty shy and 'nice' ... at times (though I do blow my lid on Twitter, haha) but I'm quite aggressive offline to the point it intimidates some people, especially when they don't get to know me at first.

Until next time, stay tuned for a review on fashionable 3D glasses and the winner of my circle lens giveaway in the upcoming week. If you haven't entered yet, here's your chance here!

Top and Shoes JC Penney (similar top | similar shoes) | Skirt Dorothy Perkins | Bag Vintage, Dooney and Bourke  | Belt Thrifted (similar)

Lol, my fiance looks high. Just felt like I should mention that. Bahaha.

In hindsight, I wouldn't have worn these shoes if I had known I was going to go into gravel roads and hidden sandy oases in the country here in Manitoba. My mom's boyfriend lives out in a town where even the GPS can't track down where he lives, or even Google Map! I only thought we were going out there to have some dinner at his place, but he decided to take us out and show us what the country has to offer.

I'm no country girl, I'm more of a city dweller (grew up in Manila, holla! 42k people+/square kilometer) and to be honest I was skeptical. But hey, actually the country has some charms to it... like the quaintness and the whimsical scenery. We went to some weird place where teenagers swam in this 'lake' but it was in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately I cannot take it when I saw leeches in the water, ha! After that we went out for ice cream. :)

Until next time,
