My favourite makeup.

I've gotten some emails asking me what I use for my makeup. Here's a blog post just showing you what I use. I don't claim to be a beauty expert by all means. Also, I have to also say that right now I'm trying out new BB creams as the one that I listed on here is a tad too light for the summer time now, as I have been outside for quite some time so I've gotten a tan. I will make another post about the other BB creams I purchased for another day. My routine is pretty simple and I'd like to think I don't do much, haha.

Just a discretionary note, I keep this in my makeup bag at all times but I don't use every single one all the time. There are some days I forgo mascara or my cat-eye liner look. More or less however this is how I go out. It takes me about 30 minutes or less to do this.

List of products
1. Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion
2. The Body Shop 'Matte it' Primer
3. Skin Food Salmon Under Eye Concealer

My favourite dry shampoos.

Dry shampoos are a god send. You know that you've had those days where you can't be bothered to wash your hair in the morning because you have to be at school, or you have to be at work in 20 minutes or else you'll be late. My hair is a nightmare to heat style all the time, it takes forever, even at this short length. It takes thirty minutes for me to heat style my hair - when you have no time it is very difficult to incorporate that into your morning routine - so I am very thankful for dry shampoos.
It took me a long time however to find dry shampoos that would be compatible with my hair. Some people use baby powder and while it works for them, I don't like the white film that makes my hair look ashy. Sadly, most dry shampoos on the market are exactly like that - they leave my hair looking limp and grey, a big no-no for people who have dark hair like mine.

SO, to help the other dark-haired ladies out there I wrote up this quick review on dry shampoos. Hopefully it works for you as well as it does for me!

Stripes: My weakness.

Outfit details:
Dress: ASOS (get it here)
Necklace: Torrid (similar here)
Bag: Vintage Coach (similar here)
Watch: Casio (get it here)
Sandals: Thrifted

The dress I am wearing in this outfit is my dream dress. Okay, I always say that for every dress I love but this time it's serious. I don't know why it has taken me this freaking long to find a striped swing dress, but I found it. No, it wasn't in any plus size section... but the maternity section! *cue the dramatic music here* -- I'm sure many of us are no stranger to maternity clothing. I think people shy away from it but to be honest, you shouldn't! There's so many gems to find in the maternity section, especially for people like me who are so big in the belly. I am definitely not a size 16 or 18 anymore, so the conception of "only smaller fats can shop straight size" is utter shit. I mean, yes, it's still maternity but it's straight size maternity and as you can see it fits me just fine.

Anyway, back to my gushing about this dress. IT HAS STRIPES, DAMN IT. My friends who are also stripe-holics have similar dresses and I was seething in envy. I wanted something similar to the Fred Perry Dress and I know I will never get something like that in my size but this is the closest thing. I have over a billion striped things in my closet and I think those are one of my weaknesses. I cannot avoid stripes, even Gab is like, "Don't you have two of those already?" Then I make justifications as to why I need a striped item. But, in my defence, I always wear my striped stuff to the point it gets holes and stuff, so I know it's a worthwhile investment.

Are there items that you simply can't resist? Even if you own a billion of it already? If so, what? Another weakness of mine is tan/cognac coloured sandals. Don't even get me started on those.

Sofa Print

Outfit details:
Dress: ASOS
Jacket: New Look Inspire (similar here)
Necklace: Torrid (similar here)
Watch: Thrifted
Bag: Vintage Coach (similar here)
Shoes: New Look (get it here)
Lip colour: Mac Party Parrot

You know what this dress reminds me of? A sofa. A sofa that would belong to somebody's grandparents. Despite this however, I bought it anyways. I have been longing for this dress since it came out and I was sad when it sold out. When it came back in stock (with only my size left) you bet I snagged it immediately. There are no regrets to be had over here, I'm loving this comfortable dress. I don't care what people say... I love shapeless dresses like these. It's so easy to just put it on and go, you know? In addition, tackiness factor was upped by matching it with bright pink lipstick.

Also, by the way, I HATE posing in front of that damned window sometimes. It really emphasises how short I really am. I mean, I'm only 5'5" (I'm doubting this now, can you shrink in height over time?) but I still feel so small. My head doesn't even reach the window. >:(

Canada Day Festivities

Outfit details:

Necklace: Torrid (similar here)
Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company (get it here)
Shoes: New Look Inspire (get it here)
Lip colour: Sephora Cream Lipstain in "Always Red" (get it here)

A bit late, but here's what I wore to go out to Canada day with some friends. Last year I went camping during Canada day weekend but this year I got to stay in town and go to the Osbourne Street party, which is a big block party with lots of festival food and shopping. It was really hot but I managed to survive, I ended up removing the denim jacket because of the temperature outside, I was sweating even in my t-shirt! We ended the day by going to see Monsters University and I must say, I loved it better than the actual Monsters Inc. movie, and now it's gotten me and Gab (my partner) into a Pixar movie kick. As of right now we're going to see Finding Nemo since he has never seen it before (I know, he's missed out on a lot of "English" or "Westernised/Americanised" pop culture) -- just recently I made him watch The Incredibles, lol!

What are some of your favourite animated movies?
